That is the real story behind Godox’s latest Knowled releases: the PL600 RF, PL1200 RF, and AM800R. The company has moved its PaletteLab engine out of the lab and into two all-in-one point-source fixtures that promise around 98 CRI, 99 TLCI, and 92% Rec.2020 coverage. At the same time, the inflatable 800-watt AM800R RGBWW mat light arrives as a 4×4-foot soft source that can be inflated in about a minute. Together, they show where location production lighting is going: higher fidelity, tougher builds, and less time wasted fighting the elements or the rigging.

PaletteLab, 92% Rec.2020, and Why Color Accuracy Now Matters Outdoors
On paper, the PaletteLab engine is more than a buzzword; it is a direct attack on the spectral gaps that have made many LEDs feel "off" on skin. PaletteLab is built on spectral analysis of natural daylight and aims to reconstruct a continuous spectrum, with Godox targeting the gaps that standard LED systems leave between blue and cyan and between orange-red and deep red. The PL600 RF and PL1200 RF translate this into a claimed CRI of about 98, TLCI about 99, and TM‑30 Rf near 97 with Rg near 103. Color space coverage is quoted at 92% of Rec.2020, which Godox translates into more than 281 trillion colors. In practical terms, that means less gray, flat skin, more dimensional faces under mixed daylight, and far more precise RGBWW color accuracy when matching gels, neons, or LED walls on location.

IP65 Weatherproof Camera Lights Change How Crews Treat Locations
The most radical shift with the PL600 RF and PL1200 RF is not the color science; it is the assumption that high-end fixtures should live outside without babying. Both the light body and controller carry an IP65 rating, meaning full dust protection and resistance to water jets. For exterior productions, that removes the usual scramble for plastic covers and improvised tents when the weather turns, and it expands where a fixture can be placed on a wet or dusty location. That move continues with the AM800R, which also features an IP65 weather-resistance rating for outdoor use. Godox says the design is intended to simplify transportation and speed up setup while maintaining the durability needed for professional productions. That is a pointed response to bulky, rigid soft sources that eat truck space and rigging time. On the point-source side, the PL600 RF and PL1200 RF integrate the power supply into the head, avoiding external ballasts and proprietary cables while fitting standard Bowens modifiers. Instead of building complex trees of fixtures to reach output, a single controllable head can now cover interviews, mid-size interiors, or even large exteriors.

Where these fixtures become more than bright boxes is in control. Both PL heads span 1800K to 10,000K with ±100% green‑magenta adjustment and full professional modes including CCT, HSI, RGBW, X‑Y, GEL, and FX. Crucially for multi‑light setups, they add X‑Y coordinate targeting inside Rec.709, DCI‑P3, and Rec.2020 gamuts and integrate wired DMX/RDM with LumenRadio CRMX plus Art‑Net and sACN. The AM800R follows the same philosophy, offering wired and wireless control options and RGBWW output from 1,800K to 10,000K with ±100 GM for precise matching.
